Although not very much time was spent in Chickasha, OK as this was the first place I met McGregor at immediately before his week vacation, I did spend a little time learning about the area.
Chickasha, OK was established in 1892, when multiple railways made their way through the area and developed to be Grady County’s largest shipping point for cattle and agriculture, which are still pumping jobs and products into the local communities. See where I read about it, and other interesting founding history here: Chickasha, Oklahoma .

I think it’s also worth mentioning, with Chickasha sitting right in the center of tornado alley, the 2024 Reboot of the movie Twister highlighted the 2011 Chickasha-Blanchard Tornado and they filmed parts of the movie in and around Chickasha. (For the sad history of this demon of a tornado, check out the National Weather Service Report here). Although it was based on such a tragic event, the area did see a boost in the local economy while the movie was being filmed from travelers to peek in and providing temporary local jobs. If you find it as interesting as I do, check this out!
While I was so close, a visit to Oklahoma City was definitely worth an afternoon drive. I visited:
which was full of local history and culture to soak up. I highly recommend making a stop if you are in the area.

Peace out, Chickasha! Up next: Olympia, Washington!
